The Salzburg Festival (German: Salzburger Festspiele) is a prominent festival of music and drama established in 1920. It is held each summer (for five weeks starting in late July) in the Austrian town of Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. One highlight is the annual performance of the play Jedermann (Everyman) by Hugo von Hofmannsthal.
Since 1967, an annual Salzburg Easter Festival has also been held, organized by a separate organization.

11 months agoI saw Beethoven's ninth symphony there yesterday and they sold every other seat and to only people who have been proven to be tested negative for Covid or who have had a vaccine. It was a really incredible performance and the sound was perfect! If you join my six hour DoReMi Trapp Family E bike tour in Salzburg, I will show you this concert venue for the Salzburg Festival and other locations where the Sound of Music was filmed! a year agoThis is a famous opera venue and concert hall. In corona times, the management did absolutely everything to ensure audience safety and deserve all praise. The opera production of Mozart's Cosi was excellent with fabulous soloists and the miraculous Vienna Philharmonic.
